Tie And I Are Almost Dressed

Tie O’ The Day is luscious, and it provides full-on clash while paired with Shirt o’ the Day. This holiday season, you’ve seen me wear X-mas suspenders. I decided I liked ’em, even though I’m a don’t-like-to-tuck-in-shirts girl. I decided I wanna wear suspenders sometimes, and I’ve got a suspender or two in the Tie Room. I promised Suzanne I won’t spend money collecting  suspenders. So, here’s my plan: Y’all buy me some as “gifts, ” and my website account—not I– will reimburse you. 😉

A Bow Tie Contemplates The Human Condition

Bow Tie o’ the Day and I were excited to receive a package this afternoon, containing a book of Miller Williams’ collected poems. We’ve been reading and reading til our readers are sore. This tiny poem, called “Compassion,” is one of our faves. Out of its teeny-tiny-ness, comes an Extra Value Meal of food for thought. We’ve read it a dozen times so far, and we can’t quit pondering its profundity. We’re kinda glad the idea of compassion is repeating in our heads. It’s kinda nice.

What Is This Thing Of Which You Speak?

So I walk into the kitchen this morning—still half-asleep—to fill my mini-keg with Diet Coke. And whoa! I see this surfboard that Bow Tie o’ the Day dragged home. Bow Tie informed me this is not, in fact, a surfboard. It’s a product called an ironing board. I have no earthly idea what you do with one of these. Bow Tie tried to explain its function, but it all sounded like BLAH BLAH BLAH to me. I guess I’ll have to YouTube it.

It’s Funny, But It’s Serious Biz

I really am wearing Bow Tie o’ the Day. It presents rust, brown, and gold paisley-scatter. You can’t see that, but you can see we are in motion right now. Bow Tie and I be quick! Actually, this is a self-portrait photo of how I think I probably look when I’m on the manic side of my bipolarity pendulum. Sometimes even a bow tie can’t settle my head. But I’ve learned I have to poke fun at my precarious extremes, or I can’t manage their dangers.

Every Bow Tie Deserves To Be Worn

Bow Tie o’ the Day is one of my very few sad ties. The bow only has one bow-shaped side. And its strap inevitably comes unclasped right after I close it. I wear the tie occasionally for as long as I can stand its continual falling off, so it doesn’t feel neglected and lonesome. I’ve doctored Bow Tie, but the situation is terminal. There will soon come a day I have to put it out of its misery. I hope that day doesn’t come forever.

A Pancreas And A Tie Walk Into A Bar

Bow Tie o’ the Day classes me up. After wearing my new X-mas pj’s for two days, I’m adding a formal black-and-silver bow tie. It’s the perfect accessory for getting my gussy-up on. Suzanne’s been off work for a week so far, and I’ve already declared Pajama Day three times. Pajamas don’t keep us from accomplishing projects. Here, Suzanne is embroidering while clad in her pj’s. And while in mine, this afternoon I slipped on a magazine and accomplished throwing my Panky further out of whack. 😖

Dad’s Overalls Look Good With A Tie

Art Deco Tie o’ the Day is elated to be at-bat. I’m not kidding when I say the non-holiday neckwear has been jealous of the holiday ties. Despite my assurances, they were beginning to question whether they would ever have a chance to be worn again. When they saw me bin-up the Christmas ties, they cheered. And I cheered too. As much as I adore my flock o’ Christmas ties, I was tiring of the constant Ho/balls/Santa/tree theme. It feels good to be theme-less again.

It’s Difficult To Look At It, But You Can’t Turn Away

I debated about posting this Tie o’ the Day. Last year I bought an Ugly Tie Kit, in order to make my own masterpiece. It was nicely ugly. I glued all kinds of rick-rack, jingle bells, googly eyes, and tiny wrapped presents onto it. Suzanne even glue-gunned a couple of stubborn items to it for me. Flash forward a year. This is what’s left of my DIY Ugly Tie. I especially like the dried glue spots on the tie, left wherever a decoration fell off. 😱

All The Other Ties Have Gone Back To Bed

You know you wanna jump in a hot tub and do some serious relaxing today. Tie o’ the Day understands you’d prefer to do it without Santa and the reindeer. They pulled off a bigly job on Christmas. They deserve a day o’ rest, as do you. BTW I know most of you Facebook friends were so busy with your own Santa duties over the past week that you missed a bunch of TIE O’ THE DAY posts. Go to my timeline to catch up.

The Message

Ties o’ the Day close the season appropriately for the Christmas neckwear. I think they offer the same message: we should believe. Whether we believe in Santa, or Jesus, or both, or neither, we need to carry belief with us. For me, belief is an attitude—a way of moving through the world with an open willingness. You don’t always have to believe IN something. You just need to have the believing attitude (a beatitude?). Believe in you, in goodness, in compassion, and in belief itself.
