Cast o’ Folks

The following is a list of people, places, things, and ideas you will hear about in the Tie o’ the Day tblog. I will add to the list as needed. If you need more clarity, please feel free to query.

Araby     (2000-2013) The dog of my life. My poetry editor. My higher power.

Bosten/Bos     Grandnephew. Son of Robbie and Kathi.

C-ville/C-burg     Town o’ my current residence. Centerville, UT.

Deja/Deja Vu     Suzanne’s car. Buick Rendezvous.

Delta-bama/Delta-ssippi/D-ville     Town o’ my birth. Delta, UT.

Devon     Man who graced me with his presence when he was a child. My boy. My ex’s bio boy. Provided me with 13 years of his amazing kidhood. My higher power.

Gary     Married to my Sister Who Wishes To Remain Nameless. Also, my hubby. Also, Suzanne’s hubby. A decent man, who takes Mom to get her hair did when I am not in Delta. Also takes Mom out to eat once a week, usually accompanied by Kathi and Ritchi.

Harlie     Grandniece. Stunning daughter o’ my nephew, Jake and Jess. She’s quiet, but busy.

Heck Tate     I use this name whenever I wanna say, “heck”. It is the name of the sheriff in To Kill A Mockingbird. My 7th Grade higher power.

Jess     Jake’s wifey. Mom o’ Brix, Harlie, Tigmond, and Jace. Funny and generous and gets my humor. And don’t forget the wooden bow tie she got me.

Kathi     Robbie’s wife. Checks on Mom daily. She takes after Mom in the don’t-mess-with-me and here’s-my-opinion ways.

Mercedes Rae     My oldest sister, whose name is not Mercedes (Betty), and whose favorite color is not blue, as she had led me to believe. She had told Connie Lovell it was blue–after Connie Lovell said her favorite color was red. Mom must have remembered that Mercedes said she liked blue, and then she told me the incorrect information, which I believed until about two months ago. And a story is born. My higher power.

Molly     Dog o’ Sister Who Wishes To Remain Nameless and Gary. Rescued. Has a hard time not being weird and, probably, schizophrenic. Loves her daily drive in Gary’s Babe Magnet.

Mom/Helen, Sr.     Woman who birthed me. Tries to convince me I wasn’t an accident. Legend. Chef. Old broad. Old dame. Cane-carrier. My higher power.

Nuk     Hubby of Mercedes. AKA Kent. AKA Kent Shaw. A spitfire, jokester, and decent human.

Peggy and Grant     Mom’s best friend for a bazillion years. Mom’s Visiting Teaching companion for a bazillion years. Mom’s “drinking and driving” cohort for a bazillion years. Also known as Pegetha. Grant is Peggy’s husband of a bazillion years.

Ritchi     Youngest spawn of Robbie and Kathi. A whirlwind. Asks me for gum at church EVERY WEEK.

Robbie     Nephew. A seeker. Master hunter. The inspiration for my first poem published as a grown-up.

Rowan     Also known as Flick Muckle Spinner. Sweet child o’ mine. Currently a baby man. Barista. U of U student. Fashion plate. My higher power.

Roxy     Squarest mini dachshund in the world.

Sister Who Wishes To Remain Nameless    Pub cohort. My higher power. (Hint about her actual name: When she gives me something she doesn’t want anymore, I call it an Anne-me-down. And when I do an errand for her, I call it an errANNEd.)

Skitter     Whippet-huahua who rescued us. Mostly legs. Looks like a fawn.

Suzanne     My first chance. My second chance. Wife. My higher power.

Vinnie     (2003-2013) Cohort o’ Roxy’s. Shoulders like a barbell. Always wore a tux and bow-tie. Cutest. Christmas. Balls. Ever.

Vonnegut Grace     My car. A 2007 Pontiac Vibe. Kurt Vonnegut and Grace Paley–two great writers–died in the same year my car was born.
